Zaragoza, Spain - Guide

Zaragoza

Zaragoza Airport

Zaragoza Airport is located 12 kilometres west of the city centre. Ryanair flies there from Frankfurt, Lisbon, London, Madrid, Milan, Palma de Mallorca, Paris and Toulouse. (It also, somewhat unusually, utilized by NASA as a landing site for the Space Shuttle in the case of an abort.) You can travel from the airport to the city centre by bus. Departures coincide with plane arrival times and a single ticket costs €1.80. Journey time is around 30 minutes, depending on traffic. A taxi will cost €15 to €25 and take approximately 20 minutes.

General Transport

The city is also served by a high-speed train line called AVE that reaches Madrid in approximately 1.5 to 2 hours and Barcelona in approximately 3 to 3.5 hours. There are up to 8 trains a day in each direction.

Although Zaragoza is small enough to be easily walkable, there is a simple and easy to master bus system. Buses run at 5 to 10 minute intervals. A single ticket can be bought at any tobacco store and costs €0.85. However, it might be better value to purchase "Bono Bus" card, which costs about €7.00 and will allow you to take 10 rides over several days.
